I think the reffing in this league needs to be seriously looked at. You can’t have old men who are just stealing money from these games working. They don’t care who gets hit or hurt, and no one will make a change until someone seriously gets injured. The game on Tuesday got out of hand very quickly, because of two incompetent officials. They let a few big hits go, and then everything was lost by them. No one will care what gets posted on here, as this incident won’t be the last one in this league. Like in other leagues, refs can make all the difference in the world. They shouldn’t be given double headers, as they just swallow the whistle during the second game. What a wonderful experience this league has been for me….
This year the reffing has really dropped off. I hate to admit it, but they are ruining the game. When off-sides is being called by the benches because the refs are out of position (we aren’t that fast), that lets you know they are just mailing it in. They’ve screwed up penalties, goals, goalies who have the puck covered, and interfered with play. They don’t even call icings during the second games. Usually, I think they do an okay job, bad for both teams and not ever a big factor in the outcome, but the complacency they have showed has been bothering me throughout the season. We could police ourselves better without them.

I have to agree with some of it. I think they let us play a little because people know eachother and they think the bumping is ok. That needs to be addressed because it seems like by the end of game the bumps are becoming full out hits. They need to pick and choose their spots and be consistent. They need to be a little closer to the rules with out blowing the whistle every time their is a collision.
Things that need to be addressed are Tripping, they forgot this call existed and it has led to some retaliation type penalties, if they made the first call shit wouldn’t snow ball. Checking, rubbing some one out along the boards is ok but when it’s a full on check or an open ice check they need to call it. I don’t think slashing or hooking have been a big issue this year. The problem is with the tripping and some of the hits that get let go and open the game up to some serious bull shit.
The off sides and the icing happens in every leauge. They are going to miss off sides and forget to call some icings no big deal. It’s clear they are not biased towards one team or another they just missing some calls.
Overall they have let us play and when it’s two teams that are competing at a high level and keeping it clean the games are fine. I have watched a bunch of good games this year.
Tell your captian to speak with the refs before or after the game to let them know what is acceptable. The refs are human and trying to do what they think is right. Talk to them and let them know what the issues are. Some refs are doing a good job some refs are doing a bad job.
WE WANT TOMMY, GIVE US THE MULLET OR GIVE US DEATH!
This is a tough league for a ref. 3/4 of the time we’re telling them that we’re all friends and to let us play. Then suddenly two guys get angry. That isn’t easy to deal with.
I do say that it is frustrating when refs coast through the second games and they do. I have a Misconduct to prove it. They’re making good money, getting done 5 minutes early is stealing money. They, like any other employee, just needs to be reminded from time to time.
Lastly, complaining anonomously about reffing is really weak.
